The academic instructor is responsible for performing all aspects of instruction for assigned courses to include, but not be limited to, implementing, revising, and evaluating assigned curriculum; utilizing all resources available to innovate and to change to meet evolving program and industry needs. The academic instructor provides up-to-date skills training instruction to meet the learning needs of students.

This is an on-campus adjunct faculty position. The class schedule is Tuesday - 12-1 and 3-5; Wednesday 3-7

Key Responsibilities:
1. Instructional Design & Assessment:

  • Develop, revise, and continually update a relevant and progressive curriculum aligned with Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) expectations and college standards.
  • Create competency-based instructional materials that ensure the highest standards of education.
  • Assess student learning outcomes at the unit, course, and program levels.

2. Instructional Delivery:

  • Prepare and deliver high-quality instruction, utilizing creative and innovative techniques to engage students.
  • Develop comprehensive course syllabi and instructional plans to enhance the learning experience.

3. Instructional Management:

  • Fulfill assigned schedules and maintain accurate student records.
  • Prioritize safety and equipment security in the instructional environment.
  • Ensure effective student/participant evaluation opportunities.

4. Student Success (Retention & Placement):

  • Provide timely and comprehensive student advisement to support academic success.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Student Success to facilitate access to tutoring and retention programs.

5. Program Recruitment & Promotion:

  • Participate in tours and recruitment events to showcase program offerings.
  • Contribute to department/program planning for recruitment initiatives.
  • Utilize program vitality data and evidence-based practices to manage enrollment and achieve department goals.

6. Customer Service:

  • Demonstrate a willingness to be of service and exhibit pleasant and courteous behavior towards students, parents, employers, media, co-workers, and the general public.

7. Other Duties:

  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.

  • Teaching experience in person, hybrid, and/or online is preferred

  • Demonstrates competency with use of technology and course learning management system that supports learning and teaching.

  • Able to work effectively in a team environment; commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the college.

  • Available to teach classes in person.
