Job Description

The Department of Urology at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport and Louisiana State University Health - Shreveport is seeking a BC/BE Urologist to expand its full-time clinical faculty. Each faculty position will include patient care, resident and medical student education. Candidates should be committed to academic medicine and have a broad experience in all aspects of Urology. Additional training and/or experience in Urologic Oncology is desirable, but it is not a requirement. The successful applicant will join several full-time faculty members in a fully-accredited Urology Residency Training Program (two residents per level). This position includes clinical duties and responsibilities at our tertiary Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport Academic Medical Center and at 2 affiliated teaching institutions. Six da Vinci surgical systems (including a dual-console unit) are available for patient care and resident training. Review of applications for this position will begin immediately.

Highlights of the Position:

  • Our health sciences center is home tothe School of Medicine, School of Graduate Studies and School of Allied Health Professions and a robust research enterprise. More than 800 students are enrolled in the degree programs at any one time. Additionally, over 600 residents and fellows are trained each year.
  • Home to the only Level I Trauma center in the surrounding region, and one of only two in the state, as well as the only Pediatric Level II Trauma Center in the state.
  • Collegial and multidisciplinary team of physicians and nurses to collaborate on a customized plan of care for each patient.
  • Physician leadership and input at all levels of administration.
  • EPIC medical record platform utilized

This position:

  • Emphasizes teaching and provides vitally importantleadership and guidance to medical students and residents
  • Allows the opportunity to do either lab or clinical research.
